Food Stamp Employment and TrainingThe Food Stamp Employment & Training (FSE&T) program is designed to assist Texas Department of Human Services (TDHS) certified food stamp recipients to attain employment and self-sufficiency by exposing the participants to local labor markets, providing assistance with child care, transportation, job search skills training, job search activities and job placement assistance. The Middle Rio Grande Workforce Board (MRGWFB) implemented the FSE&T program as a pilot project in Val Verde County in March,1999. The MRGWFB has now expanded FSE&T services to Dimmit, Maverick, Uvalde and Zavala Counties (these counties contain the highest food stamp population in the region). The MRGWFB is now looking to expand the services to the other counties in the Service Delivery Area (Edwards, Kinney, and Real) in order to assist the citizens of these counties in their job seeking activities.
